The reef Bass City is situated just off Madejanine Point and lies in 21m of water. It is half an hour boat ride from Ponta Do Ouro depending on the weather. Bass city is famous for the giant Potato Bass that make these five interesting mounds of reef their home. They keep a watchful eye on the diving groups and are extremely inquisitive. Juvenile fish as well as baitfish huddle together in tight shoals over the reef as the pelagic game fish come to feed on them causing the shoals to dart and dance in all directions. There are also many different rays that hide under the low-lying ledges or swoop across the reef such as Marble Electric Rays, Blue Spotted Rays and Ribbon Tail Rays. The reef itself is covered in many different Sea Firs or Hydroids and is home to the Octopus, Lota Slug, Varicose Wart Slug, Geometric and the nasty Black Cheek Eel, Banded Boxer Shrimp, Mantis Shrimp, and many Star Fish. The common Lionfish floats around guarding their territory. On the north end you will find the shy Garden Eels in the ripples of the sand.
