Guinjata Bay is a popular holiday destination just south of Inhambane (The land of good people). You will find kilometers of sun-bleached beaches, excellent dive sites and beautiful warm tropical waters. Jangamo Bay, Paindane Bay and Coconut Bay are other fantastic areas nearby, known for their vicinity to the world renowned Manta Reef. Besides scuba diving, many tourists enjoy fishing for wahoo and kingfish. You can also explore its rich hinterland with several national parks nearby, mind-blowing safaris and excellent hikes. You will need a 4 wheel drive car to get around.

Guinjata Bay is well known for its incredible whale shark diving opportunities, especially during the Mozambique summer months (Oct-Feb). It is definitely one of the top places in the world to encounter these majestic creatures. One of the world's top 10 dive sites, Manta Reef, was discovered in 1995. With crystal clear waters, flourishing coral reefs and a host of world-class facilities, this is one of the Indian Ocean coastline's best-kept secrets. Nearby, you can find the wicked Guinjata Bay Reef about 1.5 km offshore filled with aquatic life, anemones, superb coral formations and a wide variety of marine fish. Paindane Reef and Island Rock are the third and fourth reef that have made Guinjata Bay so famous.
